How many people am I competing with for a given project?

We are committed to proposing 5 relevant consultants to each of our clients' projects.

We're an agency. Can we use Advisorate to find work?

Yes, you can. As long as you state clearly in your profile that you represent an agency. You can also upgrade to an Agency account and create a profile for each member of the agency. The more we know about you, the more we'll be confident in sending you new project opportunities.

I specialize in media relations. Is Advisorate for me?

We have a growing pipeline of project opportunities coming in for a range of communications including corporate communications, government relations, investor relations, journalism, marketing, media relations, public relations and research.

I've just started contracting. Can I still use Advisorate?

Yes, definitely. If you have any previous relevant expertise - at any level - you can find clients.

I'm looking for full-time work. Is Advisorate for me?

Yes and no. While Advisorate focuses on contract opportunities, some clients may be looking for full-time employees. Some of them start hiring on a contract mode and decide to go permanent after a trial period. We are happy to discuss this with clients.

Can we find remote work opportunities on Advisorate?

Yes, about 50% of our clients are looking for remote applicants.

I'm currently fully booked. Should I still sign up?

Yes. If you want to avoid finding yourself in a "dry spell", you should constantly be looking for new leads. Advisorate keeps you in touch and highly visible.

What types of companies are posting work opportunities?

Our goal is to connect qualified consultants to quality companies, which means that we often stop companies posting jobs if we are not sure of their quality. We don't work with recruiting agencies or "body shop" companies.

Will my current employer be able to see my profile?

You have the option to set your profile as hidden from our search tool. However, Advisorate is designed to allow you to build your profile around your skill set and your past projects. You should treat your Advisorate profile in the same way you view your Linkedin profile when it comes to current employees.

Do I need my profile to be validated to receive client inquiries?

Yes. Validated accounts will receive notice of project opportunities. Clients can find you and contact you via our search tool - provided you set your profile as visible. Advisorate is only open to qualified industry professionals, so validation is therefore essential.

How long will it take for my profile to be validated?

The more information you provide in your profile, the sooner your profile will be validated and the sooner you'll receive relevant work opportunities. Typically, we validate new applicants within 24 hours.
